Will I Have to Continue to Walk Faster?

Will I have to continue to walk faster to stay fit or lose weight?

Many experts believe that one must constantly increase the load/intensity of exercise in order to stay fit. Many claim that when the body becomes accustomed to a level of intensity, unless one ups the intensity there will be a gradual loss of fitness. Exerstriding is not about speed! As one walks at whatever speed they choose, they simply need to apply force to the poles with as much intensity as it is possible for them to sustain. Research has shown that in as little as 36 session of Exerstriding, muscle endurance can be increased by as much as 40%. So as you become stronger and develop greater muscle endurance you will be able to apply more and more force to the poles for a longer period of time -- at the same rate of “perceived exertion”. By the time you have reached a desired fitness level you will find it relatively easy to maintain that level of fitness at whatever speed and overall intensity that works for you. If weight loss is your goal, try to maximize the duration of each Exerstriding session until you reach your weight loss goals, and then gradually reduce the length of your daily strides until you find the duration at which you can maintain your desired body weight.
